A Wisconsin-based manufacturing company is relocating to the Menominee area, bringing new investment and jobs to Upper Michigan. Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that Menco LLC has moved its machining and custom fabrication operation to Mellen Township near Menominee.
The company says the relocation will generate at least 1-point-2 million dollars in economic impact and create 13 new high-paying jobs in the region. The move will also nearly triple the company’s production floor space. Menco founder and owner Adam Menor says Michigan’s business climate played a major role in the decision to move operations across the river.
The Michigan Strategic Fund helped support the relocation with a 100-thousand-dollar Michigan Business Development Grant. Michigan Works! is also assisting the company through a workforce support proposal valued at 188-thousand dollars. InvestUP CEO Marty Fittante says projects like this demonstrate how targeted incentives can bring real economic growth to the Upper Peninsula.
Menco has already moved into its new facility in Mellen Township, with regular operations expected to fully resume next week.
