Travel Not Advised – Blizzard Conditions
The Marinette County Highway Department plow crews are working in shifts but are unable to keep up with the current snowfall rate and blowing conditions. Wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected, which will worsen blowing and drifting snow.
Highways and rural roads are quickly becoming impassable and may remain blocked. Emergency services may experience delays responding to calls due to hazardous road conditions.
The County Highway Commissioner strongly urges residents not to travel unless absolutely necessary.
If travel is unavoidable:
- Inform someone of your route and expected arrival time.
- Carry a winter emergency kit, including blankets, food, water, a flashlight, and a phone charger.
- Keep your fuel tank as full as possible.
- Drive slowly and be prepared for sudden whiteout conditions.
Residents are advised that the safest option is to remain where they are until conditions improve and road crews are able to clear the roadways.
