Menominee Mayor Casey Hoffman, announced yesterday he is running for Michigan’s 108th District in the House of Representatives. Hoffman will face off in the August 4th primary against five other Republicans who are also running. One candidate has filed on the Democratic side. Incumbent Representative Dave Prestin or Cedar River has filed for the 38th Senate Seat currently held by the term-limited Ed McBroom.
In his announcement, Hoffman posted “I am running because I believe the Upper Peninsula deserves a higher standard of leadership. Too often, we look to Lansing for answers. I think Michigan would be better served if our capital looked more like some of our best run cities and towns, where people set aside differences and get things done — together.”
There will be a new District Judge in Menominee County. Judge Robert Jamo is not running for reelection. Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Rogg and Menominee Attorney Alexander Sieminski have filed to run for District 95A Judge.
The filing deadline for the Fall Elections in Michigan was yesterday. The Primary will be held August 4th, and the General Election is November 3rd.
