May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and a local organization is working to break the silence and build support right here in the community. NAMI North Bay says awareness is growing, but so is the need for connection, conversation, and resources. The group has been expanding its reach, bringing in new volunteers and increasing engagement across the region.
This year’s national campaign message— “Stigma grows in silence, healing begins in community”—is driving local efforts to get people talking.
Throughout May, NAMI North Bay will share stories, resources, and outreach efforts, encouraging people to speak up and seek support.
The organization is also planning informational sessions later this month and is actively looking for volunteers, especially those interested in peer support roles.
Support is available year-round through NAMI, including helplines and local connections—and in crisis, the 988 lifeline remains a critical resource. For more information or to get involved, visit NAMI North Bay’s Facebook page or reach out directly through their email connection.
