Marinette County authorities say they have identified a person of interest in a fire that badly damaged the Northpoint Exotic Dance Club earlier this year.
The fire happened in the early morning hours of January 8th, just outside Peshtigo. Investigators believe the building was intentionally set after someone tampered with the propane system leading into the club. Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller…
Owner Billie Ransom says the fire disrupted more than just a business; it impacted several families who depend on Northpoint for their livelihood.
Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller says evidence found at the scene showed items had been manipulated and positioned in a way that indicated the fire was set by a person.
Authorities say the person of interest has since died. Because he was never charged in connection with the fire, his name is not being released.
The Sheriff’s Office also confirmed the man had been a volunteer firefighter with the Grover-Porterfield Fire Department, the same department that responded to the Northpoint fire.
Miller says the situation is disappointing for everyone involved, including the fire department.
Restoration work continues at the club.
