With dangerously hot temperatures expected, Marinette County Emergency Management is reminding residents to take precautions and know where to go if they need relief from the heat.
If you need a place to cool off, county officials recommend contacting your local municipality to see if a cooling center is available in your area. Residents can also call the Marinette County non-emergency dispatch line at 715-732-7627 to find out if any cooling centers are currently open.
Officials remind the public that cooling centers are designed to provide a safe, air-conditioned place to escape the heat during the day. They are not overnight emergency shelters and are only open during their regular business hours.
Emergency officials also encourage everyone to stay hydrated, limit time outdoors during the hottest part of the day, and check on elderly neighbors, young children, and anyone without access to air conditioning.
