Marinette firefighters are once again asking the community to help “Fill the Boot” in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The annual fundraiser returns this Wednesday through Friday at the intersection of Hattie Street and Marinette Avenue, with firefighters collecting donations from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. The campaign has become one of the most successful in Wisconsin.
Heckel says that success is a direct reflection of the generosity of local residents and businesses. Firefighters will be standing on medians and street corners accepting donations while traffic is stopped at red lights. He says they’re asking drivers to be patient and remember every contribution helps.
Several local businesses are also helping support the campaign by hosting collection boots and providing meals and refreshments for volunteers. Donations can be made at the Hattie Street intersection or at participating businesses throughout the community. Every dollar raised supports the Muscular Dystrophy Association and its programs for families living with neuromuscular diseases.
