A single-vehicle crash in Marinette County has claimed the lives of two teenagers and seriously injured two others.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says dispatch received an iPhone crash notification shortly before eleven Saturday night, followed by a report of a crash on County Highway G near Loomis Road in the Town of Lake.
Investigators say 16-year-old Landen Englund of Menominee was traveling south when he failed to negotiate a curve, entered the ditch and struck a tree.
Englund and a front-seat passenger, 17-year-old Princeton Welty of Crivitz, were killed.
Two other passengers suffered serious injuries. Authorities say one was ejected from the vehicle. Both were transported for medical treatment.
Speed appears to have been a factor.
The crash remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.
