Two newly appointed City of Menominee Council members officially signed in this week, marking the start of their service following a formal ceremony with fellow alderpersons. One of those new members is Windy Marie Kirkola, of Ward 2, who says while the appointment is official, the real work is just beginning.
Kirkola says she’s already preparing for upcoming council decisions and plans to stay closely connected with residents as she settles into the role. Another newly appointed alderperson, Christina Vargo, of Ward 4 says stepping into the position comes with both excitement and responsibility.
Both alderpersons were officially sworn in during the signing-in ceremony and are expected to begin participating fully in council meetings immediately. Also sworn in for his second term in Ward 1 Michael DeDamos and serving his fourth term in Ward 4, Josh Jones. City leaders say the ceremony helps ensure continuity in leadership as the council moves forward on issues impacting the community.
