Minnesota prosecutors say charges filed against murder suspect Robert Chilcote in that state could be dropped if he’s convicted in the death of Gabriella Cartagena in Marinette County.
Chilcote was arrested in Wright County, Minnesota, after investigators say he killed Cartagena in Wisconsin, dumped her body in Michigan, then fled west. Authorities say Chilcote led law enforcement on a high-speed chase that exceeded 100 miles per hour before he was taken into custody.
He currently faces charges in Minnesota for fleeing police and assault.
During a court hearing Friday, Wright County Attorney Brian Lutes told the court that if Chilcote pleads guilty to the murder charges in Marinette County, Minnesota prosecutors would dismiss the charges filed there.
Chilcote is scheduled for a status conference in Marinette County on August 18th. The Minnesota case is set for review on August 28th.
At this point, no charges have been filed in Menominee County, Michigan, related to the disposal of Cartagena’s body.
