Members of the Marinette County UW-Green Bay Redevelopment Committee got an up-close look at the former campus Thursday, touring several buildings as work continues to determine the property’s future.
Committee members discussed the need to develop a clear mission and deliverable before bringing in consultants and exploring redevelopment options. Much of the conversation focused on finding a financially sustainable use for the campus.
Committee member Wendy DZurik says the group needs a defined target before moving ahead.
Facilities Director Marty Keyport reminded members that maintaining the buildings continues to cost the county money and said any future plan must be sustainable.
Members also discussed bringing in outside experts to help generate ideas and identify opportunities for the site.
Committee member Wendy DZurik says fresh perspectives could help the committee think beyond traditional uses.
The committee toured much of the campus Thursday but did not make it to the field house. Members plan to continue their tour and hold their next meeting at the field house on July ninth at noon as they continue exploring redevelopment possibilities.
