The Marinette County District Attorney’s Office launched its Diversion Program in February of 2023. Instead of sending eligible first-time felony offenders directly to prison, the program focuses on rehabilitation through counseling, treatment, education, and accountability.
Diversion Coordinator Stephanie Timblin says participants remain in the community while addressing the issues that led them into the criminal justice system.
Participants typically spend two to three years in the program, meeting regularly with Timblin while working toward stable housing, employment, sobriety, and family reunification.

Timblin says giving people a second chance ultimately benefits the entire community.
