A forty-two-year-old Crivitz man is dead following a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon in Marinette County.

Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller says the crash happened around four-forty p.m. on State Highway 180 near Sequin Road in the Town of Porterfield.

According to investigators, Brian Thoreson was traveling north on Highway 180 on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he failed to stop for a vehicle driven by sixty-six-year-old Dorothy Kowalski of Marinette.

Kowalski was slowing down and stopping for another vehicle preparing to make a left turn onto Sequin Road.

Thoreson’s motorcycle struck the rear of Kowalski’s vehicle.

Authorities say Thoreson was not wearing a helmet and suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

The Grover-Porterfield Fire Department and Aurora Medical Center–Bay Area EMS assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.
